Myrtos by Asimakis is a restaurant with Greece at its heart. Chef-owner, Asimakis Chaniotis, grew up in Athens, where food was always about family, memory and the rhythm of the seasons. At Myrtos, he brings those roots to South Kensington with cooking that is both refined and deeply personal.
Asimakis made his name in London’s fine dining world, becoming the first Greek head chef to earn a Michelin star at Pied à Terre. Myrtos is his most intimate project yet, celebrating his Greek heritage with his own unique touch. The food feels familiar and soulful, whilst refined and original at the same time.
Classic flavours such as creamy taramosalata, 48h marinated sardines, Greek salad with a feta mousse, moussaka that delivers authentic flavour and richness, whole organic Kefalonian sea bass baked in salt crust; every plate carries the warmth of his home, but with a touch of surprise. With some ingredients being brought directly from Greece – including olive oil, artisanal cheeses, Greek wild greens aka ‘horta’ and an extensive Greek wine list – and others seasonally sourced from trusted UK producers, Asimakis’s approach is to always respect the land and the ingredients. The cocktails have been developed exclusively for Myrtos by the famous Line Athens bar, currently ranked as 6th best in the world..
Hospitality at Myrtos is as important as the food. In Greece, philoxenia which literally translates “friend to strangers”, is a way of life. At Myrtos, that generosity can be found in every detail. Guests are welcomed with the ease and care of a family gathering. In a light, calm space reminiscent of a Greek island and decorated by Greek artists, the service is genuine and relaxed, reflecting the philosophy that food is best when shared with loved ones.
