A Botanical Pause in South Kensington

For those who know how to pace a day well—perhaps wandering the V&A, or navigating the Chelsea Flower Show crowd—The Pelham offers the perfect punctuation mark: a thoughtfully curated afternoon tea, served daily from 2:00–4:00pm.

Housed in a townhouse just across from South Kensington Station, The Pelham delivers elegance without excess. Interiors blend classic charm with a vibrant, modern edge, designed by Kit Kemp to feel both refined and welcoming.

Tradition, with a Twist

Expect the best of British comfort: finger sandwiches filled with roast beef, rocket and horseradish mayo, or smoked salmon with cream cheese and chives. But you’ll also find The Pelham’s Italian heritage showing through. As Hotel Manager Ryan Dunlop puts it, this is “British afternoon tea… with an Italian twist.”

That twist arrives in the finale: a creamy pistachio tiramisu that nods to The Pelham’s roots in Starhotels Collezione, Italy’s leading luxury hotel group. The scones—plain and raisin—are warm, soft, and paired with clotted cream and jewel-bright jams. For those with a lighter appetite, a Cream Tea (£16) offers the essentials without the full ceremony.

A Setting That Soaks Up South Kensington

There’s a sense of pace here that’s hard to fake. The drawing room looks out over Cromwell Place and the entrance to the tube station. You feel London moving—but from a safe, cushioned distance. Or, as Dunlop puts it: “a refreshing pick-me-up after a day exploring the many museums of the area… or simply to enjoy while watching the world go by.”

Guests can choose to enhance their tea with a glass of Alta Langa Bianco Extra Brut or Rosanna Rosé, bringing the experience to £51–£53. It’s a small indulgence that makes a South Kensington afternoon linger a little longer.

The Pelham Afternoon Tea starts at £35 per person. Bookings and full menu available by clicking the link below:
