My Brompton Cross by Jamila Asgarova

To Celebrate International Women’s Day, we talked to three truly international women who have a very special history with the area. We talked to Founder and Director of concept store Soroko, Jamila Asgarova. We asked her about her Brompton Cross.

What is your history with Brompton Cross?

My story started almost 10 years ago when I used to have an office space on the 1st floor of the corner building which is now the beautiful Chanel store. Thereafter I established a wellbeing space called Gazelli House and just a few months ago I opened a concept store on Walton Street called Soroka.

Why do you think Brompton Cross is special?

It is the diversity of what the area offers – you can become a member of the most exclusive gym or simply pop into one of the pilates studios; you can shop fashion, kids and homeware from well-established global brands or small independent boutiques; you can eat quickly at one of the local cafes or have long brunches, lunches and dinners from the most exclusive restaurants. In one word it is its own little universe.

Where do you hangout or refuel at Brompton Cross?

For weekend lunches with family definitely Daphne’s – I am obsessed with their crab linguine!!! And for quick work break/lunch my two favourites are Jaks and Cafe Volonte.

Where do you like to shop?

Mira Mikati for pieces that bring joy to my wardrobe every season; Luxury Family Affair for their funky poncho’s, travel bags and home throws; Forte Forte for some statement pieces and Blue Almond for all my new-born baby gifts. In general, I always shop local as I strongly believe we are like one big family that always supports each other and thats what is so beautiful about the area.

Any special tips for a newcomer?

Take time to explore what the area has to offer. You will see that it will soon become your frequent go to – as you can find pretty much everything here.

Have you a fond memory of the area you can share with us?

The Christmas Fair with reindeers, food and carol singers was absolutely magical – I hope we bring it back again soon.
