My Brompton Cross by Stephanie Alameida

We continue our ‘My Brompton Cross’ series of interviews with Stephanie Alameida who opened Salt Resort Wear store on Walton Street in May 2012. The Salt boutique carries a brilliant mix of the most coveted brands and up and coming designers with the intention to offer beautiful items in an inspiring place, with exceptional service. Offering womenswear, menswear, shoes, bags, jewellery, and accessories.

Please could you give me a little bio about yourself?

Originally from Thailand I grew up in Bangkok which is the root of my heritage and holds a special place in my heart. However, my studies took me to the US when I was 18 and I lived there until 2001. I noticed when I moved to London there was an opportunity to create Salt Boutique, a multi brand resort store. Being captivated by different cultures, over the years I have slowly brought together designers from all over the world.

What is your history with Brompton cross?

My story started 12 years ago when I first opened Salt Boutique which was originally located a couple stores down the road from our current location, 91 Walton Street. Located in the heart of South Kensington we have built cherishable relationships with our clients. In addition to our flagship store we have had a history of pop-up stores in Notting Hill and Kings Road, and we are now also on track to open a new store in Knightsbridge.

Why do you think Brompton cross is special?

Brompton cross is a special community that brings together cultures from across the globe. From fashion to dining you are surrounded by unique experiences which is why it is the perfect location for my boutique.

Where do you hangout or refuel at Brompton Cross?

To refuel one of my many favourites to visit is Dinings SW3. For a quick bite I love to pop into Jak’s and Daphne’s for a lovely lunch. Of course, RYS Beauty Salon where I leave feeling refreshed and last but not least Mira Mikati to ‘the happy house’ to put a big smile on my face.

Where do you like to shop?

In my own store of course, however, I also often visit Joseph’s.

Any special tips for a newcomer?

Build strong relationships and create individual experiences as this is something that people remember and will talk about.

Have you a fond memory of the area you can share with us?

Over the 12 years and having two stores in the area these have been the best memories of the boutique. My whole life has been within Brompton Cross, with KX as my gym and both my children going to school around the corner, the area is very dear to me as I am surrounded by many fond memories.

Head to Walton Street to discover the Salt Boutique full of  “edgy, fun and hard to find labels”.
