Kino: A Refined New Japanese Dining Destination on Draycott Avenue

An exciting new chapter has opened on Draycott Avenue with the arrival of Kino, a modern Japanese restaurant bringing clarity, craft and quiet confidence to the heart of Brompton Cross.

Led by Chef Pavel Baranovs, Kino offers a refined interpretation of contemporary Japanese cuisine, shaped by seasonality, provenance and restraint. The menu fuses traditional Japanese techniques with locally sourced ingredients and subtle European influences, resulting in dishes that feel both precise and expressive. From delicately prepared nigiri and sashimi to comforting yet elevated plates such as Wagyu udon soup and Imperial black cod glazed in yuzu miso, every dish is guided by balance, intention and respect for ingredients at their peak.

Seasonality, Craft and Quiet Confidence

Taking its name from an ancient word for wood, Kino is rooted in values of warmth, simplicity and craftsmanship. Fermentation, head-to-tail cooking and ethical sourcing play a central role, reflecting a modern, responsible approach to Japanese dining that feels perfectly attuned to its surroundings.

The restaurant’s interiors, designed by Studio APAA, echo this philosophy. Natural materials, soft architectural curves and low lighting create a calm, immersive space that blends Japanese minimalism with European warmth. The result is a dining room that feels intimate and timeless — a place to slow down and savour.

Kino is a wonderful new addition to the newly developed Draycott Avenue, strengthening its growing reputation as a destination for considered dining, independent businesses and design-led experiences. It sits comfortably within Brompton Cross’s evolving streetscape, offering something quietly special for locals and visitors alike.
Open for lunch and dinner throughout the week, Kino invites guests to experience a modern Japanese restaurant defined not by excess, but by clarity, seasonality and understated elegance.

A special Valentines menu for £75 per person is available this weekend, this includes the delicious Oysters with ponzu jelly. Book soon to avoid dissapointment.
