Colorful World by Mira Mikati

Here’s a treat to brighten up the dullest of January moods, Mira Mikati’s first coffee table book, Colorful World is out now.

From remote corners of the planet to bustling city intersections, to exist in the world is to encounter colour. Colours that occur in nature. Colours we wear and live with. Colours we are drawn to, and that seem to speak to us. Fashion designer and photographer Mira Mikati has always been captivated by how cultures and individuals use colour to define their environments and their identity, to stand out and to celebrate, to inject joy into the everyday.

This is the inspiration for her new book COLORFUL WORLD, a spectacular romp through fifty of the most vibrant places on earth—from Greece to Japan, Indonesia to Italy—that delivers a jolt of optimism and enthusiasm. From the most coloful Mediterranean coastal towns in Italy, France, and Greece, to the rainbow mountain in the Peruvian Andes, stunning photographs are paired with inspirational quotes from Mikati, whose enthusiasm for travel is intoxicating. Page after page, Mikati gathers from her world travels a plethora of visual wonders: ancient monoliths, scenic islands, stunning artwork, electric cityscapes, white-sand seashores, ancient cobblestone streets, and both classic and innovative architecture.

“Whether these photos inspire wanderlust or the desire to bring more color into your life, I hope they convey the extraordinary healing powers of color. In my experience, when memories are filled with color, they prove unforgettable,” says Mikati in the book’s introduction. COLORFUL WORLD captures a whimsical spirit rainbow-splashed celebration that we are all seeking after two years of pandemic fatigue and lockdown blues.
